Kathmandu: CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has credited the establishment of democracy in Nepal to the mature vision and strategies of Pushpalal Shrestha, the founding general secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal.

Speaking at a symposium marking the 47th memorial day of Pushpalal, Prachanda said the federal democratic republic was made possible through the strength of the united people’s movement, which was built on the foundation laid by Pushpalal’s ideology and strategic alliances.

Calling Pushpalal a researcher, philosopher, and social science thinker, Prachanda emphasized that all patriotic communists recognize Pushpalal as a unifying figure, and urged for unity among all communist forces.

Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of the CPN-Unified Socialist, lauded Pushpalal’s role in fighting autocracy and championing people’s rights. He stated that true tribute to Pushpalal would be the unification of fragmented communist parties.

Netra Bikram Chand, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal, recalled Pushpalal’s analytical and organizational leadership in class and political struggles.

Rajendra Shrestha, Chairman of the Federal Council of Janata Samajwadi Party, and Upendra Yadav, Chairman of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, also praised Pushpalal’s ideology. They underscored the need for unity among progressive forces and criticized the current state of the communist movement, which they claimed is plagued by deceit and internal conspiracies.
